Our Mission

We're revolutionizing navigation by putting safety first. Every route we suggest is backed by crime data, analysis, and a commitment to protecting our users.

The Problem with Traditional Navigation

Popular navigation apps like Google Maps prioritize speed and efficiency, often at the expense of user safety. They frequently route users through high-crime areas, potentially exposing them to dangerous situations.

In South Africa, this issue became so severe that local authorities had to request Google to remove high-crime areas from their routing algorithms after several attacks occurred on suggested routes.

While general safety information exists, it lacks the street-level specificity needed for safe navigation. People currently rely on friends, forums, or qualitative opinions to assess route safety—there's no systematic, data-driven solution.

Critical Safety Gap

  • 8,000+ more crime incidents on Google Maps routes vs safer alternatives
  • Multiple attacks reported in South Africa on suggested routes
  • No crime data integration in major navigation apps
  • Users lack tools for informed route safety decisions

Our Solution

Navu fills this critical void by providing safer routes using historical crime data.
